Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins playing Twister

ODD MOMENT IN MUSIC / T.V. HISTORY | Welcome back to the early 1990's. A time when MTV was still all about music. A time when the two hottest bands in grunge and alternative rock; Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins, respectively - could be seen on (inter-) national television, playing cheerful games and just hanging around... Just let that sink in for a second. Imagine having Kurt Cobain, Billy Corgan and Foo FightersDave Grohl in the same room - over a game of Twister!

If you haven't already,
check out the video below!

The slightly over-refreshed Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic completely steals the show, as you can tell. Note also how his bandmate Kurt Cobain and lead Pumpkin Billy Corgan keep avoiding each other throughout the whole time. Never cared much for rumours and rubbish, but apparently there was some sort of rivalry between the two on a personal level at the time, which included a certain miss Courtney Love.

The always charismatic Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who I'd assume had just joined Nirvana at this time, is of course the sympathetic one in the bunch. Here he's almost a tad on the shy side (compared to Mr. Novoselic anyway), which is kind of sweet. It's also quite adorable how a band of The Smashing Pumpkins' credibility actually agrees to participate in something this silly, rather than telling MTV to go fxxx themselves and scram.

But, for what most people's probably wondering:
I have no idea why Krist is the only one who's almost butt naked. Perhaps he lost a game of strip poker previously, who knows. Give that man a few drinks and anything could happen, I suppose.

D'Arcy and Billy of the Smashing Pumpkins
Also seen in this video are (both of the Smashing Pumpkins) guitarist James Iha as well as bassist D'Arcy Wretzky. The latter becomes game master, and thereby almost takes the role of a school teacher to these little rascals, which is pretty amusing. It's funny how Kurt Cobain modestly raises his hand to her, when asked who's next.

There's also some other long haired guy participating, who I can't quite place, however...

Hope you enjoyed that odd video, if you hadn't seen it before.
Have a nice weekend, kids! Cheers!
